The Church dedicated to St. James is the parish church. Lewis, writing in 1837, says " the chapel is now in the course of re-erection and when completed will be a handsome and comodious edifice in the ancient style of architecture with a steeple 90 feet high." It was completed in 1845. Fr. James Rickard was the Parish Priest at the time of construction.In 2006 there was a major renovation and restoration of the Church.

Church of St. Lawrence,Rathmore.
Fr. Cogan writes of Rathmore "a parish church stood here from time immemorial". The present church of St. Lawrence was built in 1843. Fr. James Rickard was the Parish Priest at the time. The church was renovated in 1991.
