“The Lenten season offers us once again an opportunity to reflect upon the very heart of Christian life: charity. This is a favourable time to renew our journey of faith, both as individuals and as a community, with the help of the word of God and the sacraments. This journey is one marked by prayer and sharing, silence and fasting, in anticipation of the joy of Easter”

Baroness Warsi led the largest ever ministerial delegation from the United Kingdom to the Holy See. She stated that it was to celebrate the relationship between the two states: the oldest formal diplomatic relationship in her country’s history. And today one of the strongest. Their diplomatic relationship began in 1479, for reasons we all know too well, diplomatic relations broke..... only to restore them during the First World War. This year marks 30 years since full diplomatic relations were re-established. “We want to build upon our bond, to show the rest of the world, and to let it inspire others. Because our relationship enables us to act together in the name of the common good; to promote democracy, to fight for human rights, to encourage fair responsible trade, to tackle climate change, and to help build stable nations. We are grateful for the superb work our Ambassador is doing here.” Baroness Warsi speech in the Holy See on the role of faith in contemporary society on 14th Feb 2012
