Parish Office & Pastoral Centre

In July 2021, with the approval of the Diocesan Property Commission, Athboy Parish purchased the property alongside St James’ Church with plans to provide a new Parish Office and Pastoral Centre for the parish.  The Parish Finance Committee have worked to progress this project with the assistance of an architect and quantity surveyor.

In 2024, plans were sent to contractors who expressed an interest in submitting a tender following advertisement last spring.  The Finance Committee and the Diocesan Property Commission have accepted the tender of Noel Kelly Construction following recommendation of the architect.

Including the purchase price of the property, this project which will cost in excess of €1million, so fundraising will be necessary along with parishioners’ contributions made via the Weekly Envelope Collection or by Standing Order.  Sale of the old national school in 2023 and of parish industrial zoned land on Cloran Road in 2024, along with existing funds, amount to 70% of the cost of works.

The Finance Committee is appealing to parishioners who do not use the envelope collection or standing order facility to please consider doing so.  The parish can reclaim 30% of your donations from Revenue Commissioner if you are a taxpayer.
